Iraqi Civilian War Memorial- Day by Day

The piece would be a large mural painted onto a wall.  Instead of solid colors this Flag of Iraq would be made up of tally marks. The number of tally marks would be equal to the number of days the war has gone on in Iraq. Each tally mark represents the days in which Iraqi civilians were lost and the tragedies of war overtook Iraq.

Photo Essay

I was so nervous and excited. Seven weeks, nine countries and a lot of unforgettable moments. I was 15 years old and this was the start of a seven week trip to Europe. Looking back it was one of the best summers I ever had. It was the start of an adventure, but also a turning point in my life. That trip opened my eyes to the world and I found a new perspective on life. 

Crowdsource Website

My crowdsourcing idea is an online travel journal. It is different from review sites such as Trip Advisor because if focuses on travel stories and photos. The journal pages will be set up like a vintage travel journal where people post some pictures and short stories. The pages will also feature a passport, when clicked the passport is an archive of the countries the user has visited. People will be able to search the site by place or by the name of the users. 

Questions

1. The text says, “the artist's role is more curator than creator.” Do you agree with this statement in relation to crowdsourcing?

2. Is the audience still an audience when they are participating and interacting with artwork? Does the audience become the artist? 

Assignment 7

For the website redesign, I redesigned the Tea Party website into the Mad Hatter's Tea Party. I changed the colors from patriotic red, white and blue to Alice in Wonderland pastels. The Mad Hatter represents ridiculousness and absurd ideas. I thought the Mad Hatter was a good symbol for how I view the Tea Party and their ridiculous, absurd ideas. 

For the second part of the project I created a Nevada tourism brochure. The brochure features some famous Nevada sites, but I also highlighted some negative aspects of Nevada's current state. I chose foreclosures and unemployment because Nevada has the highest foreclosure rates in the country and the highest unemployment rates. 

Questions

1. What's the future of tactical media, how will it change with technology? Will online disruptions be more powerful than real life disruptions?
2. How does tactical media vary from other forms of political art? Is technology the major difference?

Assignment 7 Ideas

For my website redesign, I want to redesign the Tea Party Patriot's website. I want to change the theme to the Mad Hatter's Tea Party. I'll change the colors from red, white, and blue to pastels and colors from the movie. I want to symbolize the madness that I see in the Tea Party. http://www.teapartypatriots.org/Default.aspx

For the real life space redesign, I want to make posters. I want the posters to reflect the economy and the economic problems. The posters will feature a gold dollar sign. I have a gold dollar sign necklace, I was thinking of scanning that and using the image for my poster. The posters will feature the gold dollar sign symbol and symbols for various places in Reno. A book for the University, casino chips for the casinos, money bags for banks and so on. The posters would be placed near the places that are featured in the posters.
